Trying to get caught up on our RV travels, I’m going to randomly share some images from our maiden voyage at the end of 2020.
Being in Iowa and not far from my alma mater, I just had to stop by and see the old place to see what had changed. A few years ago I remember catching a live video of Iowa State University demolishing the student housing tower where I had lived for 2 years. It was bitter sweet. However, imagine my surprise when I drove by and noticed my old tower was still there!
There it is – Wallace Hall! Obviously the tower that was taken down was not this one. If you look closely in the following image, you can see the 7th floor…and the room…I had while I was there! The 4th floor down from the top – Lancelot. I had the large picture window on the left overlooking the south part of the city!
So what did I want to be when I grew up? (Before getting distracted with flying and engineering…). The following images may give you a hint…
Yes, I wanted to be a veterinarian. My favorite shows when I was growing up was: Daktari, Flipper, Gentle Ben, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, and many other outdoor-related TV shows and movies. I still look back fondly on those memories and to this day still wish I had continued to follow that path. Today my favorite TV viewing include ALL of the veterinary shows and the many outdoor shows from Nat Geo Wild, BBC, and other networks. I guess all of this is why one of my favorite pastimes include wildlife and nature photography and starting the RV life so I can visit many of the wildlife photo hotspots around the country.
