I want to wish everyone a happy and safe New Year’s Eve on this last day of 2021.
Iowa is a lot more than flat farmlands. I wanted to share some of the fall color images I managed to capture in October of 2020 on my RV trip to Iowa. These photos are from driving around the northeast part of the state area near Dubuque. The landscapes and cliffs overlooking the Mississippi River are pretty awesome – especially in the fall!
Enjoy!
The Freedom Rock is a way one person found to honor veteran’s service to our great country. The artist, Ray “Bubba” Sorensen II, was inspired by the movie Saving Private Ryan, as well as his desire to give Veterans a unique recognition on Memorial Day. This was originally painted on a large boulder in rural Iowa but was eventually expanded to include one in each of the 99 counties in the state. Each rock painting has some info or scene unique to the county it resides in.
This rock was found in McGregor Iowa.
