I took a couple of weeks off from blasting out our updates for a brief…vacation. The real reason I took off will be revealed in the next update after I edit the images. But for now, let it be known that I drove up to visit my sister in Missouri for a few days while on my way to our ultimate destination – Ottumwa, Iowa.
Growing up we never had eagles to watch flying over the river catching fish. They’ve been much more frequent the last few years and it’s one of the first things I look for when I return home. This trip I managed to find 5 eagles – two pairs (I presume mated pairs) and a single along the river. Couldn’t get too close to them this time but I did manage to get a few images to prove I saw them. The last one (part of a mated pair I’m sure) was sitting next to her nest!
It’s always a thrill to see these lofty creatures flying (or sitting and lording) over our countryside!
I’ll be back soon with more info – after I run through and edit close to 600 additional photos!
